“Board Walk” fundraiser in March!

Board Walk

“Every mountain top is within reach if you just keep climbing.” Kildare Steiner School’s Board of Directors have conjured up a wonderfully mad idea to raise awareness and funds for our school and have decided to climb Lugnaquilla, Irelands second-highest mountain! Our target is to not only ascend and descend intact but to raise €15,000 in doing so. The “Board Walk” is planned for the 14th of March!

Our school is a wholly independent school, which means we receive no government funding and so tuition fees, donations and “grit”(!) are our primary source of income. The Lugnaquilla climb aims to raise funds for two urgent priorities:

1. Upgrading the heating system

Our existing heating system is outdated, expensive to run and constantly needs maintenance. An upgrade is desperately needed and while a partial grant will be available, there is a substantial amount of money required to complete the job. The new system will not only reduce our maintenance costs and carbon emissions and but also keep our children and teachers warm!

2. Maintenance of the Kindergarten building

Our Kindergarten building is aging (somewhat “gracefully!) and while over the years we have made significant improvements and extension work, we have now identified an opportunity to further the life-span of this building by improving drainage.
